Students who are currently pursuing a four year bachelor’s degree in nursing will be assisted throughout their studies by the government.

“The Government will pay one-third of the already subsidized fees in addition to providing for them monthly stipend of EC $1,000 per month.”

This comment was made by Prime Minster Dr. Ralph Gonsalves as he addressed the country last Saturday in his Independence speech.

Minster Gonsalves added that supporting loans are available for students and the recruitment of nurses to England will commence soon.

The Prime Minister added that financial assistance will be granted to the government’s employees which includes civil servants, police officers, teachers, nurses and nursing assistants, who are pursuing undergraduate studies at the degree, diploma or certificate level.

Minister Gonsalves said the assistance “would amount to up to one-half of the cost of each course which is successfully completed.
