As Barbados’ Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Immunisation Unit resumes the administration of first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from today, Thursday, April 8th , the focus will be on addressing the backlog of persons registered during the first phase of the country’s National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19.

Frontline workers who have not yet received their first dose will also be vaccinated.

The administration of the vaccine will run until Wednesday, April 14th. Co-coordinator of the Programme, Major David Clarke, explained that no new registrations for appointments would be facilitated during this round of first doses. He added that once the backlog was taken care of, the Ministry would open up a new appointment App, which would allow persons to schedule appointments
themselves.

In the meantime, those who registered previously will receive a call, email, or text message from the Unit directing them where to go to get vaccinated.
