Newly appointed Speaker of the House of Assembly, Honorable Jomo Thomas has pledged to take his responsibility seriously.

Thomas replaces, the Honorable Hendrick Alexander who served as Speaker of the House from 2001 to 2015.

Speaking at yesterday’s ceremonial opening of the first session of the tenth parliament where he was unanimously elected House Speaker, Mr. Thomas said it is an important responsibility to serve and he expressed confidence that all the other elected Members of Parliament who were sworn in would take their responsibilities seriously.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Regional Integration, Sir Louis Straker commended Mr. Thomas on his appointment as House Speaker and applauded the former Speaker of the House, Mr. Hendrick Alexander for his sterling service over the years.
