Media practitioners here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines had an opportunity to interact with Mr. Timothy Antoine, on his first day on the job as the third Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB).

Addressing sub-regional journalists via teleconference yesterday, Mr. Antoine, a national of Grenada, committed to improving relations with media workers, and signalled his intention to hold workshops for media workers in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).

During his first engagement with the regional media, Mr. Antoine outlined the new vision for the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) for 2016-2020 and beyond, which he said will include maintaining a strong EC dollar, a strong and resilient financial system, sustainable public finances and single-digit unemployment.

Mr. Antoine also noted that during his five year tenure, the vision is for the ECCB to among other things, provide thought leadership and influential policy advice to member countries to elevate growth, development and employment, and to enhance effectiveness through higher levels of transparency and accountability.
