The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) will be hosting several activities this week to commemorate 38 years since the last eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano on April 13, 1979.

This year, NEMO is targeting primary and secondary school students in Kingstown, Clare Valley and Colonarie.

School Presentations on Volcano and Geological Hazards are being held today with Grade five students of the Clare Valley Government School and Form four Geography students of the St. Vincent Boys Grammar School.

Similar sessions will be held on Wednesday April 26, 2017 with Grade five Students of Kingstown Anglican Government School and Form four Geography students, Girls High School, and on Thursday with students of Colonarie Government School and George Stephens Secondary School.

On Tuesday April 25, a Tsunami Smart Meeting will be held from 9:30am-12:00pm for Community Volunteers and Private Sector in the Tsunami Smart Project Communities which includes Rose Place, Clare Valley, Businesses in Kingstown close to Kingstown Anglican School and Colonarie.

A community meeting will also be held at the Rose Place Hard Court on Wednesday April 26, 2017 from 4:30pm.

On Friday April 28, there will be an Educational Field Trip to La Soufriere, under the guidance of Dr. Richard Robertson, Geologist and Director of the Seismic Research Centre.
