The National Parks, Rivers and Beaches Authority, in conjunction with the  Fisheries Department will be hosting a special forum themed ‘Preserving Biodiversity and Pride in the South Coast Community’ on Thursday October 15th, 2015.

This one-day session, aimed at disseminating South Coast Marine Management Area (SCMMA) project updates, and gathering input for inclusion in the SCMMA Management Plan, is crafted for senior technocrats within the Civil Service, Media Officials and Stakeholder Organizations.

The SCMMA encompasses the coastal and marine areas of three major bays: Indian Bay, Calliaqua, and Blue Lagoon, and is surrounded by the communities of: Canash, Ratho Mill, Calliaqua, Rose Cottage, Villa, Indian Bay, and Arnos Vale.

The forum will be held at the Beachcombers Hotel, at Villa from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.

It will feature presentations by the Working Group and Project Implementation Team Officials and representatives of the funding agency, who will address matters of Marine Conservation Areas and their importance in protecting coastal and marine biodiversity.
