The St. Vincent and the Grenadine Co-operative League in conjunction with the Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions is hosting a Credit Union Legislation Workshop today under the theme “Credit Union laws and regulation compliance.”
The workshop at Frenches House in Kingstown is being attended by credit union Boards of Directors, Supervisory and Compliance Committees, Credit Committees, Education Committees and Management Teams.
President of the SVG Co-operative League, Kelvin Pompey speaking at the opening of the workshop said the session is being held in a continuation of efforts to ensure that key legislative requirements become embedded in the operations of credit unions.
Meanwhile, Minister of National Mobilization and Social Development, Hon. Fredrick Stephenson said the legislative interventions are critical for enhancing the supervision and regulation of credit unions and cooperative societies here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
