The Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture extends congratulations to officers from the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force who recently completed training in the Human Resource Development.

The annual training program is done in an effort to enhance the overall tourism product, through the development of the country’s human resources.

Workshops sessions focused on, an overview of the tourism industry, improving attitudes, the importance of tourism to the destination, SVG’s tourism product, travel trends and satisfying the needs of customers.

Tourism Education Officer, Mrs. Jewelene Charles Scott facilitated the workshops and reminded the officers of their very important roles as customer service providers and the need to continually improve the standard of service in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

She encouraged officers to increase their knowledge of the destination and learn through their own experiences, so that they could confidently promote the destinations product offering.

Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism and the SVG Tourism Authority partnered with the Argyle International Airport Inc. during the month of May to provide Human Resource Development training for staff from various departments in an effort to further enhance the delivery of service and to provide a pleasant airport experience for locals and tourist/ visitors alike.

The Ministry will continue its training program during the period June to October, 2018. Its attention will turn to Restaurateurs, Immigration and Customs Officers, Store Attendants and Nurses focusing on communication skills, service excellence and tourism education.

Frontline staff employed at the Botanical Gardens and caretakers at various sites and attractions will be trained in tourism education and an introductory course in Spanish.
