Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Hon. St. Clair Prince, during his presentation at the 2021 budget debate, discussed the opportunities that have been made available to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to acquire COVID-19 vaccines.
“The Ministry of Health has identified various opportunities for accessing approximately 11,400 COVID-19 vaccines, either through donations or direct purchases.
I’ll just list some of these vaccines, or some of these opportunities which we have: 45,600 Astra Zeneca via the COVAX facility, 5,000 Sputnik V, that’s the Russian Sputnik vaccine. We will also receive 40,000 Pfizer vaccines. 21,800 to be acquired via the African Medical Platform, and we have a $200,000 offer by Alba Bank for the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to acquire more vaccines.” He said.
Minister Prince said that it his hope that by the end of the year that all the vaccines would be acquired and that the entire population will be vaccinated.
