Members of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force Fire Department, RRU, SSU, CID, Traffic, Port, and Outstations, along with participants from the SVG Red Cross, Teachers Credit Union and the Argyle International Airport, are participating in a one week training course.

The course commenced on April 9, 2018, and will conclude on April 17.

The training course which is an initiative of Mr. Fitzgerald Huggins, St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Consul General to Canada is being conducted by a team of personnel from GlobalFire, a charitable organisation based in Ontario, Canada.

The participants will receive specialized training in search and Rescue, Steep Bank Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue, Rescue from buildings, Entanglement, Emergency Medical Technician training (EMT), First Aid, Fire Burns, Confined Spaces, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Awareness and Ropes and Knots.

GlobalFire delivers basic fire fighting and pre-hospital emergency medical care training to members of volunteer and professional fire fighting organizations in developing countries, in order to enhance fire protection and emergency medical services in the local community.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is the 81st Country to receive this training.
