The government has completed the rehabilitation of the Learning Resource Center in Ashton, Union Island.

The works, which included the installation of hurricane shutters, upgrades to the rest rooms and external drainage, commenced on May 30, 2016 and ended on December 16, 2016.

The building now meets the emergency shelter standards of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO).

Mac Construction Inc. executed the construction at a cost of some 400 thousand EC dollars.

The works was funded by the government through a loan from the World Bank and is one of the activities being implemented through the Regional Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project, which is supporting this country’s efforts to prevent and adapt to the effects of climate change, strengthen hazard and risk evaluation, and improve decision making.
