The Kingstown Co-operative Credit Union (KCCU) will be embarking on a series of events to mark its 60th Anniversary, on April 12, under the theme “60 and Beyond.”
In delivering remarks at a media launch on Monday at the Reuben John Development Center, President of the KCCU, Cynthia Hope-Browne, said the KCCU is the first Credit Union to achieve such a milestone and their goal is to maintain the wellbeing of its members.
Giving a brief history of the Credit Union, Mrs. Hope-Browne said the Credit Union movement started in 1958, with a share capital of 5 hundred and 73 dollars and a membership of 53.
She said the institution now boasts a share capital of 2.3 million dollars.
Meanwhile, Minister of Mobilization and Social Development, Fredrick Stephenson, commended the KCCU for the contribution it is making towards the development of this nation.
