The singer’s representative issued a statement (via Rolling Stone), criticizing the persistence of “negative, salacious, harmful narratives” despite the truth.
The response follows recent photos of Bieber in New York and Los Angeles, where fans expressed concern over his appearance.
A video also showed him swaying while interacting with a fan. However, TMZ reports that Bieber had been up all night in the studio and caring for his son.
A source close to Bieber confirmed he has been sober from drugs since 2014, only drinking socially.
His rep also noted that the past year has been a transformative period for him, during which he ended several friendships and business ties that no longer served him.
