Principal of the Montego Bay Community College (MBCC), Dr Darien Henry, is calling on the Government and other stakeholders to be proactive in crafting policies to counteract low enrolment in educational institutions.

Speaking at the school’s recently held graduation ceremony, the educator stressed a need for decisive action to be taken to combat the declining birth rate and fall in school enrolment, contributing to the problem.

He added, “Currently, less than 30 per cent of Jamaica’s population is stepping foot into a college or a university or some avenue for post-secondary education; we have to flip the script.”

Henry emphasized that action must be taken urgently so that the number of persons who are accessing post-secondary education can begin to increase in the country.
