CEO of the Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) Mr. Garth Saunders, while speaking on radio earlier this morning provided an update on SVG’s water situation. During his update he disclosed that the CWSA had been able to restore some water to both the Dalloway and Majorca systems, which brought them up to about 60 percent of the islandwide water capacity.

The CEO of the CWSA said that water supply on the windward coast  will be a challenge, saying that water that is being supplied there is finite and is sure to run out at some point. Saunders said that it is his hope that they can get into the Jennings system to assess the quality of the water in the intake and determine whether it is suitable to be put back into the water system to replenish the storage that is currently being depleted.

Water supply has been cut and rationed nationwide since Friday April 9th when the La Soufriere volcano explosively erupted in order to safeguard the quality of the water in the CWSA’s systems.
