Dr. Ralph Gonsalves

There is insufficient coordination between the Office of the Director Public Prosecution and the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.

This is according to Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves while speaking on the Issues at Hand program, addressing the issue of cases falling through. Gonsalves attributed this to the lack of coordination between the two.

“Somebody mention about how some cases would fall because of some evidential issues and sometimes as a professional in the field I feel that there has been insufficient coordination between both the office of the DPP and the police” he said.

The Prime Minister noted that that the DPP’s office is strengthened by a national prosecution code, as well as made mention of that fact that there is a National Prosecution Office where there are police officers located within, which is supposed to serve to bolster cooperation between the two, in particular at the magistrate court level.

The Prime Minister said that this is one area of cooperation that he would like to see strengthened.
