The Insect Vector Control Unit is taking an integrated approach to reducing incidents of dengue fever in SVG.

This comes from this country’s Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Hon. Luke Browne while addressing the nation concerning the current Dengue Fever outbreak.

“The Insect Vector Control Unit is taking an integrated approach to reducing the incidents of Dengue in the country. I already mentioned nationwide fogging; they are also using larvicide and placing particular types of fish in rivers, streams and drainage systems to prevent mosquito breeding in stagnant pools of water.”

Minister Browne said that he agreed that Insect Vector Control officers need to increase their patrols in communities.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is currently in the midst of a Dengue outbreak that has surpassed the numbers of the last outbreak in 2014 at 347 cases and two lives lost.
