Several changes are coming for the Guyana Police Force, one of which will be a new aviation unit.

Guyana’s Acting Commissioner of Police, Clifton Hicken, revealed the unit during an address at the Police Officers’ Conference.

Guyana’s Department of Public Information reported that Hicken told the officers gathered that this will bring them on par with their counterparts within the region and further afield.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for ‘Administration’, Calvin Brutus revealed that two police officers completed a pilot training programme in the United States and other ranks are pursuing degrees in aeronautical engineering at the Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School, at Ogle, East Coast Demerara.

Meanwhile, a number of police stations across Guyana will be upgraded to bring them in line with the needs of modern day crime fighting.
