The Ministry of Home Affairs in Guyana has announced the official launch of the new Co-operative Republic of Guyana Ten-Year Passport, available to citizens as of yesterday.
This initiative aligns with President Irfaan Ali’s vision to modernize the country’s public services and enhance the travel experience for Guyanese citizens.
The new passport introduces a range of advanced security features, including an embedded electronic chip, to meet international standards for secure travel documents, and all passport applicants will be required to undergo biometric enrollment, which includes fingerprinting.
The new design also features the Guyana theme, which reflects the nation’s unity and cultural diversity.
In addition to the security upgrades, citizens can now choose between a five-year or ten-year validity period when applying for a passport.
To further improve the application process, the government is planning to launch an online application system soon to allow citizens to apply remotely, reducing wait times and streamlining the process.
