Three agreements have been signed between the Governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and India.

Making the announcement was Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, while speaking at a news conference at Cabinet room this morning.

Reporting on his visit to New Delhi India, for the 14th UN Conference of Parties, Dr. Gonsalves said the three agreements include the exemption of a visa requirement in both countries for holders of diplomatic and official passports – signed by SVG’s High Commissioner to London, His Excellency Cenio Lewis; a Memorandum of Understanding on the corporation in the fields of traditional medicines – signed by Minister of Health Luke Browne and the framework agreement on international solar alliance, which was signed by him.

Dr. Gonsalves noted that there are three other agreements – which the Government is hoping to sign. They include the Corporation in the Field of health and medicine, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of SVG and India for an information technology center in Diamond, as well as a cultural exchange program.

The Prime Minister also said while there, the Government of India contributed 1.3 million dollars towards the local arrowroot industry and 1 million USD dollars towards hurricane ravaged Bahamas.

Discussions were also held on education, international relations, climate change, land degradation and establishing a mission of SVG in New Delhi among other things.

The 14th United Nations Conference of Parties held in New Delhi India ran from September 2nd to the 13th and was attended by delegates from 197 signatories.
