The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is set to begin financial support for preschools. This information comes from the Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

“For the persons who operate the early childhood centres, they call them preschools. The persons who operate the schools very often they rent premises and they have expenses and a lot of parents have kept their children away or in some cases where they children still went and they were accommodated by the schools, they didn’t have the money to pay.

If you’re operating a school and you have to pay the rent, the light and the water, you’ll have some fixed costs.” Gonsalves said.

Prime Minister Gonsalves said that the government will be providing financial support in the form of two instalments of $1,000.

Gonsalves said that previously preschool teachers had been supported under the temporary unemployment benefit but there had been no such support for those who operate the institutions.
