The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is holding discussions with a group of investors regarding the setting up of a Call Center here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said the group is holding meetings here with officials of the Ministry of Education, the Labour Department, Police Force and students of the SVG Community College.

According to Prime Minister Gonsalves, the setting up of a call center will help provide jobs for young people, thereby resulting in a decline in the youth unemployment rate in this country.

While not disclosing the name of the group, Dr. Gonsalves said that the group is “serious”, and he has received assurance about their reputation from a Prime Minister within a Caribbean country in which the group currently operates a Call Center.

He noted that the group operates call centers in Grenada and Dominica.

The Prime Minister indicated that the group is hoping to start off their operations here some time later this year, on a small scale, however this is expected to increase over a period of time.
