Minister of Sports, Cecil McKie says the government will continue to look afield in terms of opportunities for local sports men and women to gain greater exposure so as to increase their success in their various sporting disciplines.

Addressing the 2017 National Sports Awards Ceremony on Saturday April 21, 2018, at the St. Vincent Community College, Auditorium in Villa, Minster McKie congratulated the recipients of the various sports awards and encouraged them to continue to perform outstandingly during 2018 and in the coming years.

He said sports will continue to be central to the development of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Minister Mckie said his ministry has assigned a coordinator of the cultural industries, and he is encouraging the various sports associations to refer their outstanding young talents to that coordinator, who is Mr. Rodney Small, so that the necessary links can be created and opportunities sourced for those young ones.

The 2017 National Sports Awards Ceremony featured the presentation of awards for Junior Female Sportswoman, Junior Male Sportsman, Senior Female Sportswoman, Senior Male Sportsman, Coach of the year, and Association of the year.
