The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is soon to acquire some new school buses, as it seeks to address the transportation needs of students here.

Dozens of school children often have to wait long hours to get transportation, particularly after school dismisses in the afternoon.

Speaking at a Press conference on Tuesday May 9, 2017, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said the government has sent off the deposit for eight to ten buses.

He said these buses will be able to accommodate about 20-25 students.

The Prime Minister said that while the government does not want to get into the businesses of running the buses, something has to be done to address this challenged faced by the nation’s students.

He also noted that the government will be ensuring that the buses are licensed and registered.
