Former Attorney General Judith Jones-Morgan was applauded this morning for her sterling service to the government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines over the past sixteen and a half years.

Having been appointed as Attorney General in 2001, Mrs. Jones-Morgan was the longest serving Attorney General in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the wider Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

During a special session in Parliament this morning, Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves thanked Mrs. Jones-Morgan for her long tenure as Attorney General.

He said that as the principal legal adviser to the government, her tenure was marked by much legal activism and reform.

The Prime Minister said Mrs. Jones-Morgan was exemplary both in the quality of her work and the expedition with which she tackled her tasks.

He said she represented this country very well at regional and international forums, and has left a huge agenda for her successor, Mr. Jaundy Martin.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sir Louis Straker said that as Attorney General, Mrs. Judith Jones-Morgan always strove for excellence.

In addressing a special Session for recognition of the former Attorney General in Parliament this morning, Minister Straker said Mrs. Jones-Morgan often went beyond the call of duty to ensure that whatever tasks assigned to her were accomplished.

Minister Straker noted that Mrs. Jones-Morgan has been in the legal service of this country for some 26 years and was awarded a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George.
