The first anniversary of the tragic incident at Rock Gutter that claimed the lives of seven students will be commemorated here on Tuesday January 12th, 2016.

The Vincentian populace was plunged into mourning on January 12th, 2015 after news emerged that a minibus transporting persons most of them children, plunged into the sea at Rock Gutter, between Owia and Fancy, resulting in the death of 7 passengers, and injuries to about 14 others.

The bodies of five of the students, Jamalie and Jamall Edwards, Anique Alexander, Glenroy Michael, and Racquel Ashton, were recovered from the accident, however, two other students Chanstacia Stay and Symonique Ballantyne remain missing and are presumed dead.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves speaking at a press conference at Cabinet Room yesterday said the Vincentian public needs to continue to pray for the affected families and to provide solidarity.

He said he and his wife, Mrs. Eloise Gonsalves will be hosting a private event this weekend for the families whose loved ones died in the tragedy.
