Eight additional officers will soon be recruited to the SVG Coast Guard.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, the Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, during the commissioning of the Captain Hugh Mulzac on Monday, 21st January at the Cruise Ship Berth.

Dr. Gonsalves, who said the addition of the new fleet enhances the Security of St. Vincent and the Grenadines – commended the Coast Guard for their outstanding work.

Dr. Gonsalves said eight more officers would be added to the Coast Guard to bolster security. ” but stated that tools must be given to boost capacity.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the marine resources must be utilized to aid overall productivity.

A total of eighty-seven lives were saved last year through the Coast Guard and plans are afoot to have a medical evacuation vessel.

The vessel was obtained at a cost of 6.5 million US Dollars, inclusive of training, outfitting and equipping the vessel.
