The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is preparing to roll out a new suite of enhanced bank notes by mid-2019.

The new notes, which will be made from a polymer-based material, will replace the current notes made from cotton.

Elritha Miguel – Resident Representative at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, during an interview with WE FM News, said the 50 dollar notes will be depleted in May or June of 2019.

Ms. Miguel said as the Polymer Bank Notes are more hygienic as compared to the paper notes that are in circulation.

The official launch of the Polymer notes will take place on May 29th 2019, via a video conference at the ECCB headquarters in Frenches.

The Bank issues notes for eight countries in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).
