Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Jerrol Thompson, during a call on WEFM’s Wake Up morning program, discussed the function of COVID-19 vaccine.

“Masks will protect you from the outside; keep the virus from getting in. The vaccine will protect you if the virus gets in.

So the vaccine is not going to prevent an infection from taking place, it’s going to prevent the infection from taking root, from causing a serious infection and it is hopefully going to limit the ability of you to spread it out and spit out and cough out and shout out the virus in droplets to other people, because the antibodies created by the vaccine would have smothered the virus inside.” Dr. Thompson said.
