Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves while speaking on the Issues at Hand program aired on Sundays on WEFM discussed the Dengue Fever outbreak in SVG, in doing so he said that people should “not allow politics to overlay their scientific understanding”.

“I see that a former official of Public Health said that the schools should be closed. Now this is a totally illogical request by my brother Harvey Farrell.”

Prime Minister Gonsalves goes on to expand why he deems the request totally illogical.

“If the school is closed, does the mosquito go on holiday? Fellas must not confuse science and politics, or let politics overlay their scientific understanding.”

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is currently in the midst of a Dengue Fever outbreak, which, as of the latest release from the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment has so far brought 432 laboratory confirmed infections and claim four lives.
