Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves says it is imperative that persons become aware of the dangers associated with hurricanes.
Dr. Gonsalves made the comment during a Message to mark the start of 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
He noted that his administration has placed disaster risk reduction and climate change at the center of its public policies.
The 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially began on Saturday June 1st and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are predicting there will be nine to 15 named storms during the hurricane season that ends on November 30.
Forecasters are also predicting that four to eight of the storms will become hurricanes and two to four would become major hurricanes with 111 miles per hour winds or higher.
