This country’s Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Montgomery Daniel, in an address to the nation has urged Vincentians to limit their social gatherings this Easter weekend, calling on them to adhere to the various COVID-19 protocols put in place by the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment.

“It is our motto that no one is safe until everyone is safe and we are aware that our culture here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is one of socializing. Our society here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is also one of a Christian nature and that this long Easter weekend, we know that a number of our individuals will like to socialize but on advice from the Ministry of Health, we are asking all in sundry to observe these protocols on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

We know however that Friday, Sunday and Monday are more public holidays, and that the tradition for socializing will be much more tempting. And so we are advising the general public to cease as much as possible the social gatherings because this what can lead to the positivity of COVID-19”. He said.

There are currently 153 active cases of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. 10 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, a total of 1,587 confirmed COVID-19 recoveries have been reported so far. 1,750 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since March 2020.
