The final of the Courts OECS Reading Competition here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been set for Wednesday December 13.
The finals was originally slated to take place in September but was postponed after Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit the Caribbean region causing significant infrastructural damage.
In response to the catastrophic events, Courts redirected resources to hurricane-ravished counterparts across the Caribbean causing a delay in the hosting of the competition finals.
The seven finalists are Kent Cain Junior of Brighton Methodist, Christian Joseph-Kingstown Preparatory, Jonneil Stowe-Lodge Village Government, Ethan Balcombe-St. Mary’s Roman Catholic, Sheya Weeks-Spring Village Methodist, Katelyn Bobb-Stubbs Government, and J’Tsi Yon Simmons-Windsor Primary.
The finalists will compete in two categories, the reading of a narrative and the presentation of a news story.
Last year’s winner was Kaylee Robertson of the Stubbs Government School, who placed 3rd in the OECS competition in St. Kitts.
