Communities interested in participating in this year’s Christmas Nine Mornings light up competition are being urged to get prepared early.

This admonition comes from Tamara Job-Sprott, Communications Officer at the St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited, Vinlec.

Mrs. Job-Sprott said there had been challenges in the past when communities applied late to seek connection to participate in the competition.

She said the communities must first apply to participate in the competition with the National Nine Mornings Committee, and have a certificate from the Electrical Inspectorate Office, before going to Vinlec to get a connection to light up the community as part of the competition.

The Vinlec Communication Officer said participating communities must make a down payment before Vinlec provides electrical connection.

Mrs. Job-Sprott said Vinlec will be contributing EC$20,000 toward the hosting of this year’s Christmas Nine Mornings light up competition.
