The importance of reading and writing will be brought to the fore, when the Clare Valley Government School hosts its 2017 Literacy Week from May 15-18, 2017.

The theme chosen for this year is “Reading the tool that creates meaningful change.”

Ms. Lucian Allen, Coordinator of the Literacy Week activities told WEFM News that the activities are aimed at encouraging the students to read, and enhance their oral speaking skills.

Ms. Allen noted that “reading is very important and must be encouraged at all times. When we read, we learn new information to keep up to date with what is happening around us.”

Ms. Allen said that among the activities planned include a spelling bee competition on the afternoon of Monday May 15, a hats off to reading programme and reading competition on May 16, and a career fair on May 17 to coincide with the school’s 63rd anniversary.
