All citizens of Trinidad and Tobago must have their electronic passport by November 24th or they will not be allowed to travel abroad.

According to media reports from the twin Island Republic, the Ministry of National Security’s Immigration Division said in a statement yesterday that, effective Tuesday November 24th, 2015, all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago must be in possession of a Machine Readable Passport (MRP) when travelling to a foreign country.

This is in line with the timeline and standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for international travel.

The statement said that “Citizens who are desirous of travelling abroad, and have not yet applied for a Machine Readable Passport, are strongly advised to do so, given that the old format passport will not be accepted for travel from November 24th, 2015.”
