A 47-year-old Chinese businesswoman in Jamaica who was arrested last year after police seized millions of dollars worth of counterfeit footwear at her business place, has pleaded guilty.

Lan Yan, who appeared before the Corporate Area Criminal Court yesterday, pleaded guilty to breaches of the Trademark Copyright Act and will be sentenced on April 30.

She was arrested on March 17, 2015 by members of the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch who were conducting an operation as part of a series of simultaneous operations carried out in the Caribbean, South America and North America to clamp down on counterfeiting.

During the operation, several cases of fake Nike, Polo, Adidas, Puma, Vanz, Levi’s, Converse, and Clarks shoes, in excess of 30,000 pairs, were seized.
