Over $600,000.00 dollars in Prize monies and trophies were distributed yesterday to winners of the various competitions held during Vincy Mas 2019.

The annual Prize Giving ceremony, hosted by the CDC, was held at the Murray Heights Hotel, located at McKies Hill in Kingstown.

Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Chairman of the Carnival Development Corporation, Ricky Adams, commended the various groups and organizations, in particular the first time winners for their participation in the festival.

Mr. Adams said each of the component of the festival saw an increase in the areas of attendance and participation.

The CDC chairman also called on this country’s Government as well as sponsors – to increase the suppliers contributions when the festival is being held  for Vincy Mas 2020.

Meanwhile – Minister of Culture Cecil McKie said Vincy Mas plays a significant role, in sustaining this country’s tourism product.

Minister McKie said with this is mind – steps must be taken in order to enhance the festival.

And Murray Bullock, Chairman of the National Lotteries Authority – the Premium Partner of the festival, said the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines through the National Lotteries Authority – injected 2.5 million dollars into this year’s festival.

This he said is proof of the Government’s continued commitment towards the festival adding that the contributions would not have been made possible without the agents and the support of the public

During the ceremony certificates were also presented to platinum, gold and bronze sponsors.

Vincy Mas 2019 was held on the theme “Welcome to Soca Land” and ran from June 26th to July 7th.
