The issue of medical marijuana will be given increased attention by local lawmakers when Parliament meets tomorrow September 6, 2018.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Saboto Caesar will table three Bills: the Medicinal Cannabis Industry Bill 2018, the Cannabis Cultivation (Amnesty) Bill 2018, and the Permitted Use of Cannabis for Religious Purpose Bill 2018.

These pieces of legislation have been prepared to guide the government in its efforts to establish a medical marijuana industry here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Four other Bills are also listed on the Order Paper to receive their first reading.

They include the Police (Amendment) Bill, 2018 to be tabled by Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and Pension (Declaration) Bills for Silma Williams and Elene Hill, and the Hudson Bullock Pension (Declaration) Act 2018.

There are 23 questions listed by the Opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) for oral answers.

Tomorrow’s sitting of Parliament is scheduled to begin at 10:00am.
