The Government of Barbados has pledged 100,000 US dollars in financial assistance to Dominica following damages caused by Tropical Storm Erika on August 27th.

Chairman of CARICOM and Prime Minister of Barbados Freundel Stuart made the announcement at a press briefing on Wednesday.

According to the Dominica News Online, Prime Minister Stuart also said the Caribbean Emergency Disaster Management Agency (CEDEMA) has set some goals for member states of CARICOM to contemplate a contribution of about US$100,000 to the island’s recovery efforts.

Stuart, who was on a one-day visit to Dominica, toured the island and said he, was astounded by what he saw.
