Officials in Barbados have lifted the ban on corned beef and other meat products from Brazil after investigations into reports that tainted products were being exported from that South American country.

Last Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture in Barbados placed a temporary suspension on all imports of meat products from Brazil.

According to LOOP News, Permanent Secretary in the Minister of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Elsworth Reid, says the Ministry found it necessary to place the ban on the products although they faced criticisms when they took that decision.

Addressing the media yesterday, Reid said local investigations reveals that the companies in Barbados that import the product from in Brazil were in no way associated with any tainted or unfit product.
