The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commerce and Trade is reminding everyone that the ban on the sale and use of Styrofoam food service products in St. Vincent and the Grenadines comes into full effect today January 31, 2018.

A ban on the importation of Styrofoam food service products first came into effect on May 1, 2017, in the interest of public health and environmental protection.

Director of Trade, Mrs. Okolo John-Patrick is reminding the public that any person, business or organization that fails to comply with the ban on Styrofoam, is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of five thousand dollars or imprisonment for 12 months or both.

Mrs. John-Patrick is also appealing for all stakeholders to play a role in ensuring the total success of this ban.
