August 3rd and 4th 2020 will be observed as Public holidays in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Making the Announcement was Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves who indicated that the August holidays will serve as replacement holidays for Carnival Monday and Tuesday, July 6th and 7th.

Speaking on We FM on Thursday, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves said the decision was made during a Cabinet meeting, held on Wednesday May 13th, and comes following the cancellation of Vincy Mas 2020.

He noted that the public holiday’s act, allows the Prime Minister to advise the Governor General to have dates changed.

Last month Dr. Gonsalves had indicated that the door will be left opened for a festival during the summer.

Vincy Mas 2020 originally scheduled for June 26 to July 7 2020, was cancelled early in April, after the Cabinet of St. Vincent and the Grenadines accepted recommendations by the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC), in its original format, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
