Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Cecil McKie says the coming into operation of the Argyle International Airport (AIA) has placed St. Vincent and the Grenadines on a more level playing field with the rest of the region, so as to be better able to realize the true potential of tourism here.

He made the point on Saturday as he delivered remarks at a rally held to celebrate the first year of operations of the AIA.

In outlining some advantages of having the Argyle International Airport when compared to the E.T Joshua Airport, the Tourism Minister said there are now greater opportunities in terms of connectivity and direct flights out of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Minister McKie said there has been an increase in passengers arriving here via air during the first year of operations of the Argyle International Airport.
