The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, is hosting a two day training session for the professionals at the Environmental Health Department, in a bid to build capacity in Global Positioning System (GPS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) Devices and Usage.

The training seminar which began yesterday, is taking place at the Computer Centre, on the second floor of the CLICO Financial Complex, in Kingstown.

It is being held with support from the Pan American Health Organisation.

The Ministry of Health says the workshop is designed to build capacity, by training Vector Control Inspectors and Environmental Health Officers to use GPS/GIS tools, to fully integrate the named devices at the Insect Vector Control Unit, and throughout the entire Environmental Health Department, as well as to use the named devices for data collection and mapping on vector borne issues in this country.
