An additional 700 police personnel will be deployed across Jamaica for the Christmas season to improve safety and security.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations, Clifford Blake, said that persons will be taken from offices, desk duties and from the National Police College of Jamaica and deployed to the streets.
“While these desk jobs are important, we have to prioritize our focus for this time of year [which is] crime reduction, public safety and reassurance,” DCP Blake explained, according to a report by the Jamaica Observer.
