About 50 pounds of marijuana have washed ashore near the Martin and Palm Beach County boundary line in Florida.

According to a report by the Jamaica Observer, US Border Patrol authorities told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that at least eight bales of the drug were found yesterday.

Frank Miller, assistant chief patrol agent for the Border Patrol, says the drugs likely were part of a narcotics-smuggling event, and authorities are searching for the smugglers.

Miller says he believes the drugs could be coming from a few areas in the Caribbean.
