The Garifuna Heritage Foundation will be hosting the 2nd National Schools Garifuna Cultural Folk festival here next month as part of activities for the 4th International Garifuna Festival.

The event which is being organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Ministry of Education will be held on Friday March 11th at the Victoria Park from 9:00AM to 2:00PM.

This year’s theme is: “Know Your History” with the sub-theme “Children of Chatoyer-Fruits of our Heritage.”

Dance Officer in the Department of Culture, Maxine Browne, said participation is expected from a wide cross-section of the nations’ primary and secondary schools.

She says the festival aims to raise cultural awareness among young people.

Miss Browne said the event will take the form of a march, exhibition and showcase of local talents.
