Vincentians turned out in their numbers yesterday evening for the official launch of the 2017 Christmas Nine Mornings Festival.

The event which was held under the theme: “Christmas 2017 – Spreading the Love”, began with the traditional lighted street parade followed by a Community Christmas concert and the lighting of Heritage Square.

The street parade featured some additions this year with a parade of nations with persons from the Logos Hope ship dressed in their national costumes.

Delivering remarks at the launch, Deputy Chair of the National Nine Mornings Committee, Mr. Lennox Bowman expressed thanks to the government, the artistes and artisans, the Diaspora and other stakeholders for supporting Nine Morning activities over the years.

Mr. Bowman also thanked the various businesses that support the staging of the Nine Mornings Festival; however, he reiterated the call for more business houses to decorate their properties with lights for the Christmas season.

The Nine Mornings festivities which are unique to St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be staged across the country from December 16 to 24. But throughout the month of December there will be community lighting, concerts, caroling contests and other activities celebrating the Christmas season.
