Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel defeated Barbados Tridents by 20 runs in the final of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad yesterday.

Red Steel successfully defended their 178 for five, stifling the Tridents’, to 158 for four off 20 overs to take their first ever CPL title in the third edition of the regional professional Twenty20 tournament.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz surrendered to Mexico 3-1 in the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, USA yesterday, giving the Central American their seventh title.

Jamaica had created history becoming the first Caribbean team to contest the Gold Cup final.
